The Margherita-von-Brentano-Zentrum invites you to its Gender Lunch Talk series, with this edition focusing on diversity and racism in the higher education context, where participants are encouraged to bring lunch and engage in discussion. The session presents a special issue of the “Zeitschrift für Diversitätsforschung und -management” (1/2025) that brings together diverse perspectives on how diversity policies have evolved in German universities.

While diversity has become a central element of organisational development and is often publicly framed as a resource for innovation and academic success, the implementation of such strategies in the German higher education context can reveal specific challenges. These include limitations in intersectional data collection and analysis, and a tendency for a neoliberal understanding of diversity to prioritise individual opportunity over transforming exclusionary structures and processes.

The event takes place in a hybrid format, with attendance possible both in person at Freie Universität Berlin and online via Webex.
