As part of the “Ringvorlesung Geschlecht denken. Kritische Ontologien” series at TU Berlin’s Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies (ZIFG), this lecture examines the role of data and monitoring in understanding diversity and discrimination within higher education.
The session is led by Nilay Bayirti, research associate in the “Fix the Institution” research group at ZIFG, whose work centres on anti-racist and anti-discrimination policies in higher education, academic activism and care work. She is joined by Aline Oloff, head of the “Fix the Institution” junior research group at ZIFG, whose research focuses on feminist theory and feminist history, science and higher education studies, as well as equality and anti-discrimination policies. Together, they explore how monitoring practices both inform and shape institutional strategies for addressing diversity and discrimination in universities.
