Hostility and hate speech directed at researchers, science communicators and scientific institutions have increased significantly in recent years.
This workshop offers an introduction to the topic, presents the advisory and support services of the national contact point SciComm-Support, and creates space for personal exchange. It helps recognise and respond to hate speech and hostility, with a particular focus on the specific risks faced by FLINTA* individuals. A crisis simulation provides practical strategies for responding to attacks in science communication contexts.
The workshop is part of the campaign week organised by the Centre for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, under this year’s theme “Stand Your Ground, Take a Stand.”
