The exhibition “Missed Images” focuses on women doctors and researchers at Charité whose influential contributions to medicine and science have not received the same recognition as those of their male colleagues. By addressing these gaps in visibility, the project seeks to draw attention to structural patterns of exclusion in the history of research and knowledge production.
To make these contributions visible, Gesine Born from the Bilderinstitut has developed AI-generated images based on curated source material. These images are presented alongside the stories of their creation and the women they portray.
“Missed Images” is a joint project of the Central Women’s and Equal Opportunities Officer at Charité, the Head of Equal Opportunities at the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité, the Coordinator of the BIOQIC Research Training Group GRK2260, and the coordinators of the SFB1315, Cluster of Excellence NeuroCure, and SFB1588.
