Negotiations shape jobs, salaries, workloads and career steps — and nowhere else can so much be won or lost. This four-hour workshop, offered by the BUA Postdoc School, is designed for postdoctoral researchers affiliated with institutions of the Berlin University Alliance. It pays particular attention to the challenges women face at the negotiation table and to job negotiations for those considering a move beyond academia.

The workshop combines theoretical input with interactive case studies and role plays. Participants will explore the fundamentals of effective negotiation, how to translate academic experience for non-academic employers, and how to argue confidently for a competitive offer. The workshop is led by Dr. Elisabeth Essbaumer (University of St. Gallen) and Dr. Noémi Nagy (University of South Florida), both specialists in negotiation and career development.

Registration deadline is 9 June 2026. Places are limited to 16 participants.
