The project “women shape the information society” (“Frauen gestalten die Informationsgesellschaft”) has been putting forward various offers for expanding the options for women’s career paths since 1999.
But still, significantly fewer women decide to study STEM subjects than men. Which gender stereotypes influence young women in their career and study choices? Are there differences or similarities in the choices made by young women in Germany and Switzerland? What kind of an influence to parents, schools, and media have on the study and career orientation of young women?
This symposium will be held on the occasion of the 20-year anniversary of the founding of the project, in order to discuss recent research findings in a dialogue between theory and practice.
