Handout on the discrimination-sensitive
consideration of parents and carers
in research funding programmes

Good research and teaching are diverse! And yet parents and other carers are institutionally discriminated against in the German academic system. This is the result of this pilot study, which was conducted by the Motherhood and Science Network in cooperation with the networks SAFI and WÆ networks and with funding from the Max Traeger Foundation of the GEW.

The aim was to analyse discriminatory tendencies in the third-party of the German research funding system against parents and unpaid carers and to make them visible. To this end, this online study surveys the experiences of discrimination of parents and other unpaid carers in connection with research funding pogrammes, which received almost 140 responses.
