What makes me special? What competences can I contribute? Why am I applying for this job?

Everyone has certainly asked themselves these or similar questions at some point, especially when it comes to switching from academia to business. Self-marketing is often not easy, partly because it is difficult to assess the needs
and selection criteria of potential employers as an outsider.

At this network meeting, Bessie Fischer-Bohn talks about her job as a HR manager and provides valuable insights into her daily work: What does she look for first in an application? How do you manage to be remembered and end up in the right pile of applicants? And once you have managed to be invited to a job interview: What
are the do’s and don’ts? You will get practical tips on the application process in general, the structure of your CV and cover letter and the job interview.

Bessie Fischer-Bohn is a trained doctor, consultant and holds a Master’s degree in economics. She has been working as HR Manager at WISTA Management GmbH since 2019. She volunteers as a mentor and is a passionate advocate for more diversity and an inclusive society.
