The Caroline von Humboldt Award (CvH Award), endowed with €15,000, is awarded annually to an excellent female junior researcher from Germany or abroad. A professor from a university or non-university research institution in Germany or abroad can nominate her or him for this prestigious award. Unfortunately, nominations by professors within the HU are not possible.

The CvH Prize is the first award at the HU to be given exclusively to women. First announced in 2010, it is one of the most highly endowed prizes of its kind in Germany. The prize is aimed at young female academics who completed their doctorate no more than seven years ago and who do not hold a full professorship. The prize money is intended to enable the award winner to carry out a research project as part of a research stay at the Humboldt University (“Scientist in Residence”).

The prize is open to (international) young female scientists whose doctorate was awareded no longer than seven years ago (plus 2 years per child if applicable) and who do not hold a full professorship. Proposals for the award must be submitted by professors from university and non-university research institutions as well as universities of applied sciences. In addition, the written consent of the junior researcher to be included in the respective research project or at the respective chair of Humboldt-Universität must be enclosed (please note: a research stay at Charité is not possible).
