Are you navigating the ‘shark tank’, just trying to survive? Do you feel like a ‘shark’ yourself? Or are you actually located in a peaceful ‘goldfish pond’? Research environments may vary a great deal when it comes to social interactions! This workshop series provides you with important knowledge for grasping the everyday uses of power in organizations and the games played in your own environment – and perhaps for navigating that in more successful ways.
In Germany and elsewhere researchers are embedded in specific hierarchical constellations. Whether they are located in the top, middle, or lower levels of their organisation, sometimes they encounter irritating and even incomprehensible behavior and outcomes. However, experience also tells us that difficult situations can be mastered by analysing the dynamics of key situations and the interests of the people involved, by skillful communication, and in general by taking a power-conscious approach.
