This workshop is designed to help international doctoral students understand academic working culture in Germany and develop strategies to thrive in an intercultural context. Targeted advice on German cultural expectations is provided, alongside a framework for self-reflection and group exchange. In this workshop, doctoral candidates will learn how to understand German academic working culture, navigate cultural expectations in a research setting, and build strategies for positive intercultural interactions. We consider the specifics of relationships with supervisors, colleagues and university administration in Germany, and advice is given on roles, responsibilities, and professional conduct.
