Have you been in a situation like this before? At an event, someone says, “Your feminism oppresses men. The quota puts men at a disadvantage and they’re the real losers.” And you as the moderator are speechless because you can’t think of a counterargument right away?
Or at a parents’ evening on the topic of “sexual diversity” in the daycare center, a parent says: “You only care about the concerns of gays and other minorities and neglect the majority” and only after the end of the event does it occur to you as an educator how you could have reacted better?

The Heinrich Böll Foundation’s project “Sichtbar und aktiv – Haltung zeigen!” addresses this issue, among others. In the workshop series „Haltung zeigen – Argumentieren gegen antifeministische Äußerungen“ (“Showing Attitude – Arguing Against Anti-Feminist Statements”), gender knowledge and methodological skills are taught as well as tools on how to deal with anti-feminist statements.

For the design of the workshops, a method manual has been compiled in cooperation with the Netzwerk Gegenargument, which is intended to encourage multipliers, trainers in political education and activists to become active themselves.

The handbook shows possibilities how the topic “confrontation with anti-feminism” can be methodically prepared. Above all, it is about empowering people in their confrontation with anti-feminist statements, to develop their own attitude and to carry this outward.
