The Moodle course “Inklusiv arbeiten, lehren und studieren” highlights that inclusion is not a question but a shared responsibility at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The course advocates for a university in which everyone can unfold their full potential and draws attention to the diverse barriers encountered in study, teaching and working environments. With around 16% of students reporting disabilities or chronic health conditions—many of them invisible—barriers can significantly affect access and participation. Staff and students alike may face challenges linked to sensory, mobility-related, psychological or chronic conditions, as well as language-related barriers.

To support inclusive practices, the course provides information, guidance and a set of practical modules. These address topics such as creating accessible teaching and learning environments, studying and working without barriers, producing accessible media, using technical assistive tools, and planning barrier-free events. Additional contact points offer further support. The course encourages all members of the HU community to contribute to reducing barriers and strengthening accessibility in everyday university life—because every person counts.
