The anthology “Perspektiven für Hanna. Dauerstellen für Daueraufgaben in der Wissenschaft” deals with the precarious working conditions in science, which have been and continue to be discussed publicly under the hashtag “#IchBinHanna” and “#IchBinReyhan”. It brings together contributions from the 11th GEW Science Conference.
Renowned experts from the fields of higher education and research, politicians and representatives of science organisations discusses the state of work at universities and research institutions. Too many temporary contracts with excessively short terms make the professional field unattractive, equal opportunities a distant prospect and long-term life and career planning impossible.
They are therefore calling for a comprehensive reform of the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG) and are calling for a sustainable improvement in employment conditions as well as a campaign to reduce fixed-term contracts in order to ensure more continuity and reliability in academic work, also as a basis for the quality of teaching and research.
The anthology also examines intersectional discrimination in academic institutions and research, including calls for diversity, challenges faced by parents, and gender equality policies on working conditions, career opportunities, and experienced disadvantages.
