The course explains the different options for creating PDFs from Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign and shows you how to use the functionality of Acrobat and third-party tools to create accessible PDFs with extensive controls. The aim of the course is to create accessible documents and forms in PDF format using Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word & Adobe Acrobat Pro software:
– Definition and standards explained – WCAG 2.0, BITV, PDF/UA
– Content, design and technical requirements for accessible documents
– Workflow in MS Word and Adobe InDesign
– Meta information and language
– Using format specifications correctly
– Structuring documents correctly
– Optimising lists, tables and links for accessible documents
– Alternative texts for graphics
– Marginal texts, page numbering and tables of contents
– Exporting tagged PDF
– Accessibility testing with Adobe Acrobat and third-party tools
