Gender-based prejudices and inequalities may be even more of an issue in times of crises and the compatibility of private life and career may be even harder to achieve. Networking in protected spaces, exchange of experiences and discussion may broaden our horizons. Therefore, I, Scientist 2020 is going virtual!
The conference is a response to the obvious gender imbalance in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) fields. It aims to increase awareness of structural inequalities that have led to this imbalance as well as provide support and mentorship opportunities for young scientists.
The focus lies in three areas: gender, career, and networking. Each of these focus areas comes with its own questions to be addressed and its own program forms. In addition to talks, there will also be group sessions and discussions, satellite workshops, role model talks, a career fair, and a conference dinner.
