The diversity of family forms in our society today is reflected in the diversity of care tasks. Institutions of higher education are already reacting to these demands and integrating family orientation into their strategic portfolios.  And yet it’s still not clear how far their responsibility should extend.

Academic institutions are required as employers and places of study to make appropriate accommodations available for students and employees with family obligations. Additionally, they also have a societal responsibility as a “Third Mission”, meaning that they can serve as a role model and influence wider society with new, innovative, family-oriented offers and strategies.

But how far does this responsibility go? To which input from society should or must it react as a family-oriented institution?

This conference will devote itself to answering these questions in lectures, best practice presentations and a panel discussion.
