The series “Lessons Learned in Academia” features successful people from academia, industry and alternative careers. WiNS Adlershof aims to present role models and contact people for questions regarding career paths, family options and much more.

If you want to pursue a career in science and become a professor, you need to be familiar with the procedures of selection committees. What are the do’s and don’ts? What are the unwritten rules of the selection process? How can you prepare for this challenging task? What questions might you expect to have?

Prof. Caren Tischendorf and Prof. Maite Wilke Berenguer will share their knowledge about selection committees to help you to strategically plan your next steps on the way to a professorship. Both are mathematicians, but have participated on many juries in other disciplines of science. Their firsthand knowledge and advice will thus be useful for all PhD students or postdocs who want to stay in science.
