This workshop provides an opportunity for empowerment. In this space, ways of looking at disabled and chronically ill f*l*t*i*enby (female*, lesbians*, trans*, inter*, and non-binary) are brought to the fore. This is done from an intersectional perspective, i.e. with an effort to pay adequate attention to the interactions between different categories of inequality.

The workshop will not only focus on individual empowerment, but also on what empowerment can mean in the context of higher education. After all, it is about living as well as possible in sexist and ableist structured circumstances!

Topics

Different understandings of disability will be pointed out, which makes possible a different interpretation of experiences of disability. Based on this, experiences of discrimination will be reflected upon. What can interventions look like?

Methods

  • Various reflection methods (including self-reflection – voluntary)
  • Collective (re)interpretation (reframing)
  • Group discussions and small group exchange
