Feminist perspectives are now firmly established in international bioethics debates. However, if we look at German-speaking medical ethics discussions, feminist perspectives are found seldom or not at all. However, international discourses in care ethics, feminist-ethical considerations of reproductive issues and feminist perspectives on justice show that a feminist perspective on medical and bioethical issues can provide new impulses. The newly founded working group aims to address feminist perspectives in medical and bioethics and to close this gap in the German-speaking world.

The aims of the working group are to work out what can be understood by feminist medical ethics, to define and make visible feminist medical ethics topics, to pool competencies and to bring together people working in this field. Feminist perspectives should be addressed not only with regard to medical and bioethical research, but also with regard to the teaching of ethics.

The working group is scheduled to meet regularly three times a year: once in the fall in the context of the AEM annual meeting, plus twice online. The first meeting is scheduled for 21 September, 2021 from 15:30-18:00 (online, in light of the current situation).

The following will be discussed during this first meeting:

  • Introducing the participants as well as their wishes and interests regarding the working group
  • Agreeing on first topics to be worked on by the group
  • Agreeing on appropriate ways of working (and potentially forming subgroups)
