The last big milestone of a PhD is the oral defence of the dissertation, which entails special challenges in communication. This workshop is aimed at PhD students that would like to intensively prepare for their defence.
On the basis of the individual experiences of participants, the workshop will address presentation techniques and defence strategies. That includes both appropriately describing research findings during the defence as well as preparing appropriate ways to react to critical questions.
At the beginning of the seminar, the vocal presence and body language of all participants will be analysed and improved. Then five strategies will be shared for achieving a convincing argumentative and rhetorical positioning during the defence. These strategies will be actively implemented in the most important part of the workshop, the practice defence.
Based on the needs of the participants, stage fright and nervousness can also be addressed in the workshop.
