Public discussions surrounding sexual harassment in the workplace have shown that there’s a lack of emphasis placed on prevention and functional structures for lodging complaints. However, it’s become clear in recent years that more and more employers want to move forward with good examples and take their obligation to protect their employees seriously.
In this context, the Federal Anti-Discrimination Office wants to create an exchange between representatives from companies and experts from civil society in order to identify key challenges in protecting employees from discrimination and to work out concrete suggestions for building a safe working atmosphere.
In addition to participants’ experiences and ideas, the foundation for the workshop will be the study “Strategies in Dealing with Sexual Harassment in the Workplace”, which was conducted by Dr. Monika Schröttle at the request of the Federal Anti-Discrimination Office. The study includes a representative survey of affected people as well as a comprehensive analysis of companies’ preventative measures and structures for lodging complaints. The results of the study will be introduced to the public at the start of the event.
