Increasing attention is being paid to how unconscious bias adversely affects diversity in organisations – including academic and research institutions. In this talk, Kimberly Mason (NeuroCure/Charité Berlin) will introduce you to some core concepts about unconscious bias, as well as particular ways it can impact careers along gender lines in academia, especially in the STEM fields. Finally, drawing on her experience as an equal opportunity officer, she will discuss strategies to address the problem at the institutional and individual level.
