Equal Care Day is an initiative that calls on people, institutions, and organisations to organise a day of action that calls attention to the inadequate appreciation and distribution of care work. The Gender Care Gap affects many facets of life for women, whether they work in the care sector or not. The recent situation surrounding the pandemic has thrown increased light on this situation – with schools and daycare centres closed, women took on a disproportionate amount of the new care work.
As a part of an live online conference on 1 October 2020, participants will look to the future: How can civic pressure be placed on the appropriate people in politics and business? What are some possible starting points and good examples? What kinds of events and protests can we imagine? How can we support each other? What kind of help can the initiative Equal Care Day offer?
