Further information
A diverse student body is part of the reality of everyday university life. This brings along with it experiences of discrimination and privilege in unequal social structures. What does this mean for your courses?
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of gender- and diversity-conscious teaching. The workshop will use a concept of diversity that places a heavy emphasis on anti-discrimination. Gender and diversity research offers a number of starting points for critically questioning (scientific) norming and mechanisms of exclusion. We will also talk about the situation surrounding gender and diversity at HU Berlin, including regulations and counselling services.
This half-day workshop will offer a condensed overview of gender and diversity in teaching, approaches for your own teaching, and specific suggestions for how to independently develop your gender and diversity competence. We use different materials from the Toolbox Gender and Diversity in Teaching for the workshop. About one week before the workshop, you will receive instructions for preparation, for which you should plan 30 minutes.
