Thinking About Equal Opportunities in Higher Education
There are numerous initiatives and models for diversity at Berlin’s institutions of higher education. The continuing debates about legal regulations show the large range of approaches there are and the difficulties that come with concrete implementation. What’s still missing is the firm anchoring of anti-discrimination policies and practices in the structures of educational institutions. This event aims to spark an academic exchange and contribute to the development of a uniform strategy for implementation at Berlin’s educational institutions.
The event will include scholarly input from Prof. Dr. Gülay Çağlar (professor for political science with emphasis on gender and diversity) on the topic of implementation of diversity at institutions of higher education and an expert discussion with panelists Barbara König (Staatssekretärin für Pflege und Gleichstellung), Steffen Krach (Staatssekretär für Wissenschaft und Forschung), Eva Marie Plonske (Bündnis 90/ Die Grünen), Tobias Schulze (Die Linke), Dr. Ursula Fuhrich-Grubert (LaKoF Sprecherin), Prof. Dr. Christian Thomsen (TU Präsident), Prof. Dr. Susanne Meyer (HWR 1. Vizepräsidentin) und Moderation durch Dr. Dagmar Simon (WZB).
